Little is known of this rare butterfly. This elusive type is found in the rainforests of Peru, and feeds on overripe fruit and animal dung.
The Purple Glory Princess was featured on a 1976 postage stamp from Paraguay.
This lovely specimen was acquired by the museum in 2020 from The Butterfly Company of Chicago, Illinois. It measures 90mm from wingtip to wingtip.
